Turmoil

As assistant producer on Turmoil aiding with the creation and updates of core game design documents such as the Gantt Chart, Art Style Guide, Game Design Document, Release to Market, and Playtest Analysis. I led external play testing, creating surveys for play testers and gaining feedback to then be turned into tasks for the game's development process. I managed and created engaging content on all of Turmoil’s social media including Instagram and TikTok.

External Playtesting Surveys

As a key programmer on the team, I aided in developing projectiles and enemy AI. My work involved leveraging nav mesh and pawn sensing technologies to craft an enemy chase dynamic. I became familiar with behavior trees and environment query systems to develop AI for the different attack patterns for our enemies. A focus of mine was on animation implementation within Unreal Engine. Through this project, I gained knowledge in creating animation blueprints, blend spaces, animation montages, state machines, and environment query systems. These elements combined bring life to the game with character movements and enemy AI.

In this action-packed game set in a late-stage capitalist society, players assume the role of a human worker with a prosthetic mechanical arm in a predominantly automated factory. After being deemed defective by the worker robots and thrown into the factory basement, the protagonist faces a life-threatening injury, leaking oil from their arm. Players navigate through hazardous factory rooms, battling hostile robots using a blend of dash, melee, ranged, and special abilities. The game features strategic gameplay with elemental modifiers and abilities available at workbenches across four levels. Challenge rooms increase the difficulty, offering rewards such as scrap, oil for health, and blueprints for arm upgrades. Players face off in a boss battle on the fifth level. The game combines elements of strategy, action, and narrative-driven gameplay, with a focus on overcoming adversity and fighting against oppressive systems
